Hello coaches! My name is Jack Messer and I am pursuing my dream of playing college golf after I graduate in 2023. I was born into a family with a passion for athletics, with my dad being my primary inspiration. My passion for golf began the moment I could walk. This then led to golf lessons, hours on the driving range and time on the course. However, my interests took a turn when I joined a competitive travel baseball team and found that I loved pitching. I enjoyed being with my team and making new friends. I learned that my passion for golf occurred during COVID. It was at this time that I renewed my passion for the sport and started taking golf more seriously. I started playing in Minnesota PGA Youth Golf tournaments with the purpose of playing on a more competitive level. I then tried out for the Wayzata High School Golf Team my junior year and made the junior varsity team. Making the team gave me a new sense of drive as I achieved a major goal for me.
Although my golf journey might not have been typical I have embraced golf and made it my focus. I have learned a lot of valuable lessons from playing other sports. My experience as a pitcher taught me a lot about leadership, teamwork and performing well under pressure. Also pitching taught me how to respond to failure when I was struggling on the mound. Additionally, I am hard-working and goal focused with helps drive me to be successful. My current goal is to continue my golf career at the college level and continue to learn and improve my skills and I know I can be asset to your program.
