My weight is 145 pounds. My height is 5'8". I am fortunate. I have been in great physical shape from being a nationally-competitive gymnast from the age 3 until I was 15. With that gift, I have made a life-style decision to maintain the shape I am in by monitoring what I put in my body and how I train. I listen to the experts and know my body's strengths and weaknesses. I will bring to the team dedication, hard work, a steady mindset, and an attitude that will allow me to progress in my endeavours; I am learning not to beat myself up for not performing as well as I would like to so that I can grow as an athlete and as a person, while still enjoying my sport. Dedication and hard work are two characteristics that are integral to my nature. When I saw that I was growing too tall for gymnastics, I began to train in golf, too, but with a coach who is ranked in the top 50 in the world. I spent around 20 hours a week at gymnastics and 10 or more at the golf course. That's a lot of time to be spending on sports, but it taught me to balance school, homework, and other extracurricular activities. It wasn't easy, especially when highschool meant competing at Nationals in gymnatics at the same time I was a starter for my Varsity golf team. Add to those challenges a growth spurt that isn't done and the hard decision to quit one of the sports that had shaped the person I was at 14. I chose golf. Before I quite gym and was juggling my schedule, I was shooting around 84 on a regular basis. In a matter of 3 months I got that average down to under a 78. So far this year, I have reduced it again to range from 2-below to 4-above par in Varisty and First Tee Tournament matches.
I'm the oldest of four kids so I don't have anyone's footsteps to follow in when it comes to selecting a school. I want golf, and I want an education. Nice weather would be a plus so that I can train year round, but I know that many schools are located in tough winter climates, yet have excellent training facilities, so my options are many. Since I have been an athlete for pretty much my entire life, I'd like to get into something like sports medicine or physical therapy. I also have a love for sound engineering, ceramics, and creative writing. In fact, I have won multiple national awards in the Scholastic Art and Writing competition, an honorable mention in a writing competition at the University of Portland, and I am a finalist at the University of Mercer right now, too. I love talking to people so don't hesitate to call to see if I could be a fit for your school and your team.
I want to go as far in my golf career as physically possible and am willing to do anything to achieve that goal, while sticking within the rules of the game. I believe that I am a person who can go as far as I want in life because I dream, and I do. When I fall, I get up, nod, and try again. I'm going to try my hardest for the coach who wants me because I want to see how far we can go together.
