Dear Coach - Thank you for finding my profile and reading this message!

First of all, I wanted to thank you for taking the time to look at my profile and to send my your information.

Second, I need to tell you what my current status and situation is in regards to football. It's a very difficult subject for me, but it's time to address it.

This year, I made a decision to discontinue my football career. I have played football, played it well, and loved the game since I was 4 years old.

However, I have also suffered more than one head injury while playing this game that I love so much. This last season, I did not play. I made the very difficult decision to take my helmet and pads off for the very last time. I chose to make that decision on my own while I still had the brain cells left to do so.

This was a very tough decision for me because I know that I could have played football at the next level, but I wanted to know that AFTER that last snap was played, I would still have a future ahead of me OFF the field. So, I am no longer a football player.

I am no longer a football player.

Even a full year later, that is really hard for me to say out loud or in writing. But, that is the fact of the matter.

Since I quit the game I love, I have transitioned to playing golf for my high school team. Last year was my first time ever golfing in an organized setting. I learned to play golf casually with my older brother when we were on Covid lockdowns because I needed to be able to compete at something. No one in our family had ever golfed before. We taught ourselves how to do it by watching youtube videos and we found second-hand gear at the Goodwill and on Facebook marketplace. It was a rough start, but we really worked at it and I am happy to say that we are already both playing at highly competitive levels.

Last year, my first organized season playing golf, I played for my High school team here at Canyon Springs. I was the first athlete in the history of my high school to Golf in the Regional Tournaments. I did well there and actually went to State also. I even did pretty well at State, too! I was really proud of myself for that because most of my competition has all played golf since they were very young kids and have had formal training and coaches, playing on travel teams around the country. My entire golf career consisted of youtube trainers and Goodwill golf clubs, chasing my big brother around the little municipal par 3 close to my house! And now I am competing at a State level and not looking too bad doing it!

This season, I am currently ranked 3rd in my division. I go to Regionals next week and I expect to make State again this year.

Why am I telling you this? Don't I know that you are a football coach? haha.. yes - yes I do.

However, I am not the person to always do everything in the most traditional way. My family has not always had the resources to put me where I need to be, but they have taught me to be resourceful and persistent. I have this resource which they signed me up for when my dream was to play football at the next level and I don't want to sleep on it. This NCSA portal gives me a window to communicate with college coaches, even if it is for the wrong sport. What I'm hoping is that my email will get your attention and maybe you can help me to connect with anyone who might be interested in talking to me about golfing at the next level.

I know that I am way behind in the recruitment process for golf. But, I'm a good student and a good kid. I participate in many different extra-curricular activities at my school and in my community. I am an ambassador for Trio at my school, I compete in Model UN, I'm in Key Club and HAPI, I'm an Explorer for one of our Local Police Departments, I'm the Captain of my Golf Team, I'm on the travel team for our Speech and Debate program and I was recently selected to participate as a Senior next year for our school's highly competitive and award-winning We The People Team. I also do believe that I will be an officer in Student Council next year as a Senior, but the election hasn't happened just yet. I was also just selected as Prom Prince at my school and have the cool crown to prove it - haha!

I get good grades and I have never been in trouble at school or really anywhere. I keep my nose clean and I have big plans for the future. But, I don't want my new golf career to end when high school does. I enjoy this new sport of mine and I have really developed a strong passion for it. I just need help making the right connections to find a home for me in college where I can continue to grow this talent.

I know this is not the normal way to do it, but I am reaching out to you today to ask for a BIG favor. Can you help me connect to the golf coach at your school? Would you please make a quick introduction and help me get my information and profile in front of them? I would really appreciate the time it would take you to do this. I don't know how else to go about it. I really want this so I am going to ask for your help. And I am open to any other advice you might have on the matter.

Thank you!

Adrian Trejo

With football being a part of my life since I was 4 years old, I think that I have really had the time to become a student of the game. I believe that my experience with time on and off the field has really been a major impact on who I am as a player and as a student. To me football isn't just a past time or a pleasure, it is a lifestyle and a commitment. I have consistently been known for being an extra set of eyes on the field not only for myself, but my fellow players, and the coaches. I have been constantly considered as a reliable source in providing different game plans or ways to attack the field of play. I enjoy being able to survey the field and pick apart the other team in small ways to help benefit my team. I have always dreamed of playing football in college, and I plan on doing whatever I can and going wherever I can go to make that possible.

I have full game videos and highlight videos on Youtube here: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLjMn-QhQk_-NvT__GExAJ1TgQ4DYdZizz
