My name is Nick Nowak. Presently, I am headed into my Senior year at Souhegan High School in Amherst, New Hampshire. Since making the decision to focus solely on golf about a year ago, I have made great progress and performed well in a short amount of time. I am excited about my future and developing even further. I am looking forward to finding the right fit at a school where I can continue my education while participating in a competitive golf program to improve my game.
Through hard work and dedication, I continue to maintain focus on my academics (currently a 3.5 GPA) and athletics because I believe it can lead to strong results and may potentially open doors for me. My hard work, commitment and dedication, in both academics and athletics have helped me thus far and I plan to continue to hold myself to a high standard going forward.
When it comes to my golf game, my mental game is my strong point. I understand and accept that the game of golf has plenty of ups and downs, but I always try to focus on one shot at a time and to stay in the present. I carry this mindset in other sports as well as I have competed at the Varsity level in baseball and basketball. I have had coaches tell me many things, but the one comment that has impacted me the most, was being told that not only am a joy to coach, but that I welcome feedback and instantly put it into action. I personally try to remember to trust the process which helps me keep a positive mindset even when I am not seeing positive results. I believe this quality helps separate me from my peers and I feel it is one of the reasons for my success thus far. I view golf as an individual sport but I have a team first attitude.
At the end of the 2022 golf season (last October), I received a few notable honors in my Division (III). I was named the NH State Player of the Year and received the accolade of 1st Team All-State Golfer. I also led my high school team to their first ever state team championship title which was such a thrill to be part of. My solid performance that day, (74) and the competitive second round helped me to become the low medalist and go on to win the title of the NHIAA Individual Golf State Champion, which I am most proud of! I look forward to continued learning, growing and success in my future.
This current month, I had the opportunity to defend my title and managed to do so as well as led my team to another championship, shooting a 73 in the team championship. Please check out my highlights and feel free to contact me if you would like to consider me for your program.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about my story with golf. I know its going to just get better as I continue to work hard and practice and compete.
Sincerely,
Nick Nowak
