My name is Silas Dusenbury, I just finished my Junior year at Red River High School in Grand Forks, ND. I am very passionate about competitive golf, which I have played since age 8. I would like to play for a competitive college golf program while pursuing an advanced college degree in engineering or architecture.
I have always been an outstanding student; I have made the A honor role every quarter since the 6th grade. I also work hard in the gym, which is an important part of my life because the golf courses are not open year-round in North Dakota. During the winter I have a putting practice routine, hit balls in the simulator, and play in a local simulator league to stay fresh.
When golf season comes around, I do my best to soak up every minute of it on the golf course. When I am not traveling around to tournaments I work with the PGA professional at my home course, Dan Tannahill. Dan helps me with technical aspects of my swing but also teaches me about how to practice. When I meet with Dan we often go out onto the course and hit different shots to get me outside my comfort zone.
My work ethic is driven by my desire to play competitive college golf at a high level. I pride myself in being very coachable and eager to learn. I believe my academic accomplishments, along with my work ethic, will make me a successful college golfer and student.
