I have played high school golf for 3 years. I had the lowest JV scoring average as a freshman and again as a sophomore. In fact, my JV scoring average was better than the #5 Varsity player. This year, I was #2 on the Varsity team after a solid summer tournament season and achieving medalist status in tryouts. I helped our team win our conference, and make it to the state championships where we tied for 2nd in difficult conditions, but came in 3rd after a scorecard playoff.
One of my high school coaches told me that I have a great mind for golf, and that I manage my way around a course well. I also have a lot of creativity and work the ball to optimize my performance. I have good distance off the tee, am a strong iron player, and am good around the greens. I am also a pretty consistent player, generally scoring in the 70's.
When I compete, I am very focused and intense competitor, and I set my goals high. But I keep my poise and my focus regardless of how I am performing in any given tournament.
I am a big team player, but I know that I must also perform well as an individual.
I am currently a junior at St. Xavier High School, which is #29 out of 198 best all-boys high schools in America and the second highest rated high school in the Cincinnati area. Last year as a freshman I challenged myself by taking some of the hardest courses available at my school, and this year I am doing the same. With this challenging curriculum, I have maintained an 87.2 average grade in my classes and a 3.47 cumulative GPA. I have been raised to value my academic success, and I take it seriously.
I plan to play golf at the collegiate level and I am looking for a school with strong academics, strong athletics, chemistry with my coach and fellow teammates, challenging competition, and a chance to contend for championships. I want to play golf at a school that will give me the opportunity play at the professional level in the future. I want to keep getting better, and I want to look back on my collegiate career and be proud of what I achieved as an individual and what our team did together.
