Luke Metzger '22 Recruiting Profile

My name is Luke Metzger and I attend Bishop Fenwick High School in Franklin, Ohio. Sports have been an important part of my childhood and over the last 12 years I have played high-level travel baseball and golf. In High School, I have played Varsity Baseball and Golf for the last 3 years entering my senior year. Within the last year, I made the decision and set a goal to become a collegiate golfer. I believe my competitive nature, hard-work ethics, and personality is a great fit for a collegiate team and coach. I take great pride in both my academic and athletic accomplishments, and I am in search of a college where I can continue to strengthen both. My goal is to be a great golfer on the course and student in the classroom. Golf is challenging both mentally and physically, which has helped my development not only in the sport but also in school.

Until last year, I played a travel baseball schedule where I would spend the summer out of state at Perfect Game tournaments where I would compete against top teams in the country. This impacted my ability to play many golf tournaments. Over the last 2 years, I have played in Southern Ohio PGA tournaments to expose myself to better competition and develop my skills. I have a strong desire to continuously improve every time I am on the course whether I am playing a practice round or competing in an event.

Due to my double-sport past, my golf skills and ability have mainly come from self-instruction. Within the last year, I have received instruction from a PGA Professional and have been steadily improving my scoring average. Last season I ended my year with an OHSAA D2 All-State finish where I shot a 75/75 at the Ohio State University Scarlet Course. This summer I continued that success with a Top 10 finish in every SOPGA tournament - one tournament I was medalist, another I placed 2nd (1-stroke off lead) and another 4th place. I am different from most recruits in that I have had great success on the course with self-instruction, so my potential is unlimited with guidance from a collegiate coach.
