I've always enjoyed the game of golf since I can even remember. I've always had a different type of love for the sport and all the different things that come with it.
I started playing golf competitively when I was five years old, starting in USKids tournaments. I got into the game early on, starting from going to golf practice with my dad, as he's been the coach at Massillon Jackson for about twenty years. I loved going to practice with him and being with the older players. I always looked up to them. Watching the players go through the Jackson team always made me so excited to be a part of the team myself. Now that I am playing in High School, all I can think about is taking my golf game to the next level. I aspire to play in college, as I have seen so many former Jackson players do.
I've played competitive golf for 11 years now. I have learned so much from so many different people and from different experiences. I'm very grateful that I've had the opportunity to live less than five minutes from a golf course which gives me the opportunity to practice my game even more. In the past two years my golf game has improved exponentially from my ball striking, to my iron game, my short game and the consistency of my long game. Practicing the game of golf is something I truly enjoy and do not believe to be a "chore". I've taken golf lessons for about 7 years now from teaching pro's Gregg Matthus (Shady Hollow Country Club), Cory Kumpf (Brookside Country Club) and Ben Curtis (PGA Pro). In the past 3 years I've started to dedicate more of my time to working out. I attend Golf Fitness Plus, a workout facility geared towards golf. With this, I have experienced major growth in me as a person, but also in my golf game. I am more stable, building more power and creating a higher swing speed.
More importantly than golf are academics. I take a lot of pride in school and taking challenging courses and keeping my grades as high as they can be. In my junior year, I have enrolled in four CCP classes including, College Algebra, College Trigonometry, General Psychology and Sociology. Currently I have a 4.0 GPA through my freshman and sophomore years, and a 4.1 fall semester GPA.
In the winter off season I dedicate my time to working out about 6 days a week, receiving lessons and hitting balls at Tee it Up Canton where I also work. Some things that I enjoy doing when I am not on the golf course or at school are basketball, deer hunting, working out and working at Tee it Up Canton, an indoor golf practice facility.
