A key component to the person I am today would have to be my parents and how hard they work to provide for my family. Seeing them work so hard so I can do what I love drives me to be the best at what I do. I first got introduced to golf when I was 13. I was originally a baseball and football kid so I didn't think golf would interest me the way it did. In 2013, while my family, friends and I were on a vacation in New York, I was invited to go golfing with them at the nearby course. At first, I hesitated because I didn't bring anything to golf in nor have I even swung a club before. I couldn't get the ball off of the ground but my friends could and I always like trying to be the best when it comes to competing with my friends.
When my freshman year came around, I wasn't really into football anymore and I was slowly becoming intrigued to try golf. By the end of my freshman season, I went from shooting an average of 55, all the way down to a 48. That alone got me excited to see how low I could go if I just stuck with it. By far, the highlight of my golfing career would be being named to the All-Conference 2nd team. Although it's not on the First Team, it was a huge step for both my confidence as well as my game. Golf has really taught me a lot of things. Its taught me patience, teamwork and how to socialize and talk with people I've never met before. Something that I've learned about myself is that no matter how low things could be at a point in life, it could all switch with one good moment. I plan on graduating high school and going straight to a college where I feel that I can mesh well with the school. I hope to obtain a Bachelor's degree in Journalism.
I have had to overcome some steep obstacles before. In December of 2016, I lost my grandfather which was pretty tough at the time. He would always preach to my brother and I that if you're going to do something, why not do it to be the best and take everyone else that's with you along for the journey. I believe that this has played a key role into why my team improved so much from 2016 to 2017. I posses some skills that I believe that can't be taught. I bring a hard work ethic and a winning attitude to your program! I appreciate the time that you have taken to read my personal statement. I hope we can get in touch some time. Thank you!
