I feel as though I have a unique take on golf in the last 3 years. On June 5, 2021, I woke up and could not talk, text, or get any thoughts from my brain to where they needed to go. I had facial drooping and just felt very weird. Long story short (very long story) I ended up having a stroke. I threw four blood clots to my brain just out of nowhere and ended up in Nationwide Children’s Hospital for 3 days. A week later I was playing in a golf tournament and luckily my oldest sister was with me as I started having the same symptoms as the week before when I had the stroke. I was life flighted to Nationwide Children's Hospital where it was concluded thankfully that they were just residual effects from the stroke. It was finally diagnosed that I had a very small hole in my heart that the clots were able to transport through to get to my brain. Six months later I had heart surgery and had a metal implant placed that closed the hole in the heart.
My point in telling you all of this is to let you know that every Dr. that I have seen has told me that I should not be able to play golf or be a 4.0 GPA student. They said that the four clots rested in my BROCA area that controls your speech and cognitive thinking. My neurologist says that I have a testimony to tell for the rest of my life. By the grace of God, I am still here and can play the sport I love to my fullest potential. Since having my stroke, I have spent numerous hours on the golf course improving my cognitive functioning which has made my mental game stronger and has made me make positive adjustments to my overall game.
I have been playing golf since I was 7 years old. I started my first tournaments with Findlay Area Golf Association, Under Armor Jr tour where I went to Nationals in Florida, Toledo Jr PGA, Toledo Area Golf Association, AJGA, Golf Week Jr and now Hurricane Junior Tour. I had Honorable Mention in 2021, 1st team all-conference and State Qualifier in 2022, 1st team all-conference, conference champs and regional champs in 2023. My 18-hole average is 76.7. Between my Coach, my dad, and the elite tournaments, I have been able to play many great courses throughout the area. We started our season August 1st and played non stop. My personal best so far this year was a 71 at Stoneridge. I also had my first hole in one at The Virtues! We have won our first 2 BVC conference matches and set a new low score for our school of 299.
While I love golf, I take my academics very seriously. I had been able to maintain a 4.0 GPA since Middle School but got my first B last semester. I plan to go to Chiropractic school after my bachelor’s degree in biology.
I am not sure if you have any college roster openings for 2025 but if you do, I would love if you would consider me for a phone call or visit. Thank you for taking the time to consider me for your program
