Dear Coach,
I’m really excited to share my goals and aspirations with you because both golf and being part of a team are huge passions of mine. I started playing competitive golf when I was 5 on the US Kids Niagara Tour, and by the time I was 7, I qualified for and competed in the US Kids World Championships in Pinehurst, NC. I qualified again when I was 8. My main coach has been my Dad, who worked as a professional tour caddy on the Nationwide Tour, so I’ve received invaluable guidance and support throughout my golf journey.
At age 13, I decided to take a break from competitive golf to try rep baseball and experience what it’s like to be part of a team. It turned out to be a great decision—I quickly became one of the best players on my team, leading in hitting and playing first base. Even though baseball took up a lot of my time, I still played golf once or twice a week to stay sharp and keep my skills up.
This year, I won both the Tamoshanter Junior Club Championship and the Toronto City Junior Club Championship, and I’ve won the Toronto East Region High School Golf title for the last two years. These wins have made me even more determined to take my golf to the next level in college. I’m now focusing 100% on golf and can break par at my home course. I know I’ll face a new level of competition at Golf Ontario and Golf Canada events, especially with some of my old friends who are already committing to D1 schools. That’s my goal too, and I’m confident I can compete at that level.
What makes me stand out as a recruit is not just my golf results, but the way I balance athletics, academics, and personal growth. I’ve learned a lot from playing both individual and team sports, including discipline, leadership, and how to work well with others. I’m driven, hardworking, and adaptable, and I know these qualities will make me a strong addition to your team.
I’m excited about the possibility of contributing my skills and passion for golf to your program while continuing to grow as both an athlete and a student.
Thank you for considering me!
Sincerely,
Tru Davidson
