As a young athlete growing up, I have always strived to play at the highest levels. I have played hockey since I was five and baseball since eight. These team sports allowed me to understand how as individuals, our work ethic and abilities lead to the success of others.
I found golf when I was eleven and starting really to be passionate about the game the following year. My work ethic over the last four seasons has helped me to find the real love and passion for the game. Living in Canada within a shortened golf season, I practice or play a round of golf almost every day from May to the end of October. The past two seasons my game has improved immensely. This year I have played and posted over 100 rounds of golf. My scoring average has improved from 84 to now 76 and my World golf handicap index has improved to 1.3 from a 7, this season.
Since I first stepped on a golf course, I loved the game and wanted to return everyday to play. As my game improved, I now aspire to play at the collegiate level. I know that playing in college is a once in a lifetime opportunity that could change my whole life, make me a better person and help shape my character as I become an adult.
I have a high athletic IQ. I am a team leader who always wanted the puck in hockey, the ball in baseball. I am not afraid to take the lead, this lead is always by example. I am very coachable and strive to be one of the hardest working athletes. My goal is to constantly be getting better and it is evident with how far my game has come in just two years, I really feel this is just the beginning. My best is yet to come.
In the classroom, I have developed strong study habits which have built the foundation to achieve high grades. I finished my grade 11 year with an 88% average and maintain a high 3.6 GPA. I also volunteer more than 80 hours per year at local hockey camps, my former elementary school and other charitable activities including Canadian Blood services and One Match donor drives.
Attending college and playing golf competitively will continue to push me in the classroom and on the golf course. I am open to understanding all university options. Ultimately, I want to find the right college fit for me, which will allow me to continue to play the game I love at the highest level of competition possible. Once I find this, I know I will be a great teammate, leader and role model. Making all my coaches, family and friends proud.
