My name is Henry Ehrlich, and I am a golfer in the 2022 graduating class at Oregon Episcopal School. I began playing golf my freshman year, and quickly realized how passionate I am about the sport. I love golf because every day there is something I can do better, and learn to improve on. I truly believe that every time I play, I have the opportunity to learn something new and become a better golfer. For the past three years, I have dedicated myself to constantly improving in golf. While my sophomore season was cancelled as a result of the pandemic, I was able to continue playing when COVID restrictions allowed. I used the time I was not able to be on the course to focus on my strength, endurance and mental fortitude. I am very grateful my Junior season is up and running. My teammates and I look forward to defending our 3A Oregon State title in a few weeks. In the past year, I have made significant improvements to my game, reducing my handicap to a 4, and consistently shooting in the mid 70s.
I am a hard-working, compassionate and team oriented person. Although golf is an individual sport, it is a team competition, and I am a team player. Teammates of mine often say I am easily approachable, and help provide the glue a strong team needs, connecting players and coaches of different backgrounds and personalities. I am proud to have been nominated by our coach to be the captain of our Varsity team next year.
