Personal Statement

Hello, I am a 17 year old senior from Erie, PA. I have been swinging a golf club since I have been able to stand on my own as a child. I started playing in competitive tournaments at the age of 10 as a part of the US Kids Golf Tour. I competed for a team state title my junior year and took 5th in the state.

I have lettered all four high school seasons in which I have played in and I plan to do so again as I have started the last two years. I feel that I am a good candidate for the collegiate level because of my drive to improve my golf game. Golf has taught me a lot about myself through the First Tee program and also just from playing. I have adopted the determination, integrity, and honesty aspects of golf and put them into many parts of my life including academics. After all, I am a STUDENT-athlete and I work just as hard in the classroom as I do on the course. My academic goal is to graduate with honors and receive a degree in engineering.

My best 36 hole tournament score, 151. Day 1: 78 During day one I was hitting the ball very well but I struggled on the greens. Towards the end of the round I got myself together and finished strong. Day 2: 73 Day two was much better for me. I hit the ball extremely well and my putting was good too. I did not make any huge mistakes and I also finished strong. Course Rating: 72 Slope: 142

I carded a +1 72 for a T3 finish. This tournament locked me in to win the tour points standings for the year and win the Erie District Golf Association Junior Golfer of the year.
