I am a rising junior entering the 2023-2024 school year. I have been a competitive golfer for a little longer than a year now and I have grown to love the game over that time. My goal is to play golf in college while getting a great education and degree.
I am a multi-sport athlete who decided to stop playing football & basketball going into 10th grade to start playing competitive golf. The past two Summers I spent my days at the golf course and fell in love with the game. Realizing I was starting this sport later than most I have to outwork everyone else to catch up and reach my goal. I have been working every day possible on my game. I have also played in as many tournaments as possible to gain valuable experience. In my first year I lowered my tournament scoring average by 5 strokes. My plan is to go as far as I can with my golf game and college is the next step in that plan. I have made incredible progress in my first year and plan to continue this in my junior and senior seasons.
Growing up playing multiple competitive sports has taught me to be mentally tough in pressure situations. I have learned to enjoy the pressure moments and have always excelled in these conditions. I have transferred this skill to my golf game and have had some of my best rounds against tougher competition and on challenging courses. This makes me different than many of the youth golfers out there.
Finally, and most importantly, I have worked just as hard in the classroom as on the course. I made honor roll my freshman and sophomore years while earning 3 varsity letters in two sports (golf and lacrosse). This shows that I will be able to handle the challenges of playing a sport while attending college.
