As I walked to the 10th tee during golf tryouts my freshman year, having just carded a 49 on the first nine, I told myself I was going to prove why I belonged on the team. On the second nine I fired a 39, a personal best at that time. The total wasn't what I had wanted, but I was pleased I had fought back and I made the varsity team. I have always believed that no matter how difficult something may seem, when you truly believe in yourself that anything is possible. Being on my high school team since my freshman year, I have learned what it takes to be a leader. Our team has not lost in five years, something we take pride in. As a senior, I know the expectations from my coaches and myself. Being a leader of a team, I always strive to set an example of sportsmanship, having respect toward one another, and encouraging others as I was once in their shoes. Knowing that we all have good and bad days, lifting each other up after a round can go a long way. Being a team player, I believe I would be an asset to a team looking to win on and off the course.
As for academics, I would like to pursue a career in the golf field and go to a school where I could get a good education and pursue my love for golf.
