Thank you very much for taking the time to read my letter. If you could please take the extra time to view the video swing links listed below, I think they are an accurate representation of my potential. I am a sophomore at Neshannock High School in New Castle, PA. For the majority of my childhood, I spent my time playing basketball and travel baseball for a highly competitive, elite organization. Three years ago, I became interested in golf and fell in love with the sport. From that time on, I have laser-focused on golf.
I am a competitor by nature, and give 110% to everything that I do, performing under pressure when it matters the most. I was voted "biggest hustler" on my basketball team by my peers this past season. Whatever I am doing, I want to be the best at it, and my goal is to play golf at the collegiate level. Contributing to a team, supporting my teammates and coaches, while thriving in the academic arena, are my top priorities. I am polite and respectful, have a tremendous work ethic, a great relationship with my coaches and teammates, and consistently spend hours trying to improve my golf game. I am at the golf course or gym almost every day, morning, noon and night, working to improve my skills. I am known at my local golf course as the kid who uses the flashlight on his phone to practice putting after the sun sets. I love to challenge myself by playing against the toughest competition, because I know that in order to compete with the best you must learn from the best, using those opportunities to develop and grow. I seek a higher level of competition to push myself to improve. Improving a little each day allows me to rise to the occasion, and because of my competitive nature, thrive under pressure. I am eager to prove that I have what it takes to compete with collegiate players of the highest caliber, and more importantly, I am willing to put in the work to achieve that.
I am entering my third year of competitive golf and feel I’ve been progressing efficiently given that short period of time. In 2024, I earned eighth place at the PIAA state championship, the lowest scoring sophomore in my division. I won an HJGT tournament, qualifying me for the ToC in Orlando this past December. Throughout twelve 9-hole matches in my high school season, I only shot two rounds over par. I started golfing when I was 13 years old, and I have managed to shave 10+ strokes off my handicap every year. I love the game of golf and there is nothing I would rather do. I spend every second of my free time on the golf course or in the weight room, training to progress and enhance my athletic abilities. I consistently maintain a positive attitude on and off the golf course, as I believe it is a key factor in being an outstanding golfer and person.
It has been instilled in me from an early age that focusing on education is my most important responsibility. I am equally passionate about my performance academically as I am on the golf course and work very hard to ensure I am excelling in the classroom. I am driven to reach the highest levels of success in all aspects of my life and continue to learn how to sustain that balance. I am very excited and would welcome the opportunity to continue my academic and golf journey at the collegiate level.
Thank you for your time and consideration,
Rocco Bautti
