Personal Statement

Why do I want to play college golf?

I would like to continue my golf career at the collegiate level.  I love to play the game and compete.  I am a dedicated golfer that enjoys practicing and always strive to better my game.  I have been able to improve my scoring average every year since I first started playing competitively in 2014.  Golf is my passion and I feel it helps keep me organized in life.   During the summer I need to manage my practice and tournament times around my work schedule and during the school year I need to manage my golf around school and homework.  Even though golf is typically an individual sport, I look forward to being a part of a team in college.  The team aspect is important to me.  I grew up playing baseball, soccer and basketball.  All team sports.  Baseball had been my passion while I was growing up.  I love the camaraderie of team sports.  It would be a dream come true to play  college golf as a part of a team while having the opportunity to grow as a player.

Why would I make an excellent teammate?

I feel as though I have always been an excellent teammate regardless of what sport I was playing.  Being a good teammate is pretty easy when you are dedicated to winning or achieving the team goal.  It is important to put the team above any one player.  Playing great individually, but having the team lose is not fun.  A good teammate is supportive and always accountable.  I feel as though I possess these skills as well as being a good leader.  I like to lead by example.  I am also a good person that respects others.  That includes my teammates and coaches.  I let my actions speak for themselves.  Last, I am a reliable person.  I will work my hardest to hold up my role as a teammate, both on and off the golf course.  It is very important to be a teammate others can count on.

What do I hope to achieve in college?

I have always loved playing sports for as long as I can remember.  More importantly, I have always loved to compete in athletics.  I love to win and am willing to work hard to achieve that goal.  I want to play golf in college.  I want the opportunity to be a team contributor all four years of college.  This is truly my burning desire.  I also want to go to a school where I can learn and become a better student, friend and person.  My parents have always taught me the benefit of hard work and being a well-rounded person.  I want to go to a school where I can make new friends, achieve academic success in the classroom and compete on the golf course at a high level.  I do not know what makes me unique from other candidates, all I know is who I am.  I can promise that I will work as hard as possible in school and on the team to be the best student-athlete possible.

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
