My name is Will Blake, I am a grade 11 student from Regina, Saskatchewan. I currently attend St. Joseph High school in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. My goals for the future are to acquire post-secondary education while continuing to develop highly as a person and as an athlete. I would be a great candidate for any golf team because I am exceptionally dedicated, motivated, a strong leader, and I am always a team player. I have an exceptional work ethic, whether that is in the classroom, on the golf course or in everyday life situations. Being an athlete at a high level has taught me so much. It has taught me how important it is to give 110% in everything I do. It has also helped me understand that sometimes things do not go your way and that's just life and sports.
Golf has always been in my blood. My grandparents were avid golfers all their lives and my dad spent many years as a top junior golfer in his area and eventually went on to become the assistant professional at Cooke Golf Course in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan from 1991-1996. I started golfing when I was 9 years old and played in my very first tournament when I was 11 years old. Since then, my summers have been devoted to golf. Since my first tournament I have won numerous tournaments on the Maple Leaf Junior Tour (MJT), Saskatchewan circuit and many club championships.

One of my proudest moments in golf was being the first recipient of the Archie Cameron Award for Junior Excellence. On the plaque it states, “This award is designed to honour an outstanding individual who displays leadership and humanitarian qualities including integrity, sportsmanship and enthusiasm for the game of golf and his or her fellow player”. This was awarded to me by the Royal Regina Golf Club. It meant so much to me and shows the type of person and golfer that I am.
I am also a multi-sport athlete. I have played hockey since I was three years old and have played at the highest level possible throughout the years. Currently I am playing for the U18 AAA Saskatoon Blazers. This is my second year playing with the Blazers and playing the highest level possible of U18 hockey in Saskatchewan. Playing a team sport like hockey has taught me so much about being a team player and leader. Being a multi-sport athlete has also taught me so much about how hard you have to work in everything you do. Playing hockey at such a high level requires you to be in very good shape physically and mentally, which relates perfectly to golf.
Golf has been my life since I was only 9 years old, I have come a long way since then and am very proud of everything I have accomplished. I know that I have everything it takes to take my golf game and education to the next level.
