Golf for me has been a recreational sport up until this past year. I played two high school tournaments in 2018 and 2019, but did not get into competitive play until 2020, with my first tournament in June. Since then, I have improved immensely and understand the importance of practicing everyday. Having played high level hockey and soccer most of my life, I have learned the value and benefit of a strong work ethic. A hockey coach I highly respect once told our team we would learn more from our losses than our wins and although we enjoyed much success the three years I played for him, we also had our fair share of losses. What I learned during that time was perseverance, patience and teamwork. This has helped me tremendously as I continue to grow in the game of golf.
I have also enjoyed playing many other sports, including volleyball, track and field, basketball, etc. When my dad introduced me to the game of golf, I knew at that moment it was the sport for me. It wasn’t until last year that my coach saw huge potential in my game and where I could go with it. This has driven me to be the best golfer I can possibly be. I feel very fortunate to have found the sport that I am so passionate about. I am now looking for a program that will suit my academic and athletic desires. I believe that I have the skills and abilities to compete at the college level and I would bring leadership, maturity, a great work ethic and a positive attitude to your program.
