My name is Mikey Bullock.
I was introduced to the game of golf at 15 months and played on and off until I decided to play tournaments at age 12. My mom has been my main coach and is an LPGA Life Member. Since I was 9 years old I have helped with her junior golf programs and have learned a lot about the golf swing being around her. Honing this skill has been very valuable with my own game as I am more independent and can self correct faster.
Also I really enjoy helping my friends and I take great pride in seeing their improvement.
My fall sophomore season of 2018 and the spring of 2019 was quite the contrast from my freshman start. I finished my sophomore year 2nd in the Rio Grande Valley High School rankings with a 74.8, behind Jun Min Lee who is now playing for Texas A&M. In 2018-19 I won 2 High School tournaments, 3 seconds, 2 thirds and did not finish worst than forth during the school year which earned me the 6A MVP for the Rio Grande Valley. One of the highlights of my fall was shooting a 72-69 in my first event of 2018. Compared to my 2017-2018 average which was a 79.
Since the summer of 2019 I have been working out with a TPI Certified Trainer 4-5x per week, a clinical nutritionist and sports psychologist.
In the fall of 2021 I started my college golf career at the University of Arkansas Fort Smith on an academic/golf scholarship.
Unfortunately I ran into a serious safety situation with my first roommate (non-athlete) that could not be solved by the university administration. My family and I decided that my mental health, safety and well-being were far more important than staying at a school where I felt at risk for harm.
I am now seeking a college that takes the safety/mental well-being of their student body very seriously and in a region with a mild weather climate so that I can play year round golf.
I have a strong work ethic and a growth mindset which I believe are critical character traits for success.
My college aspirations are to study and learn from empowering professors, make an immediate impact to the golf program and to grow and learn from my coach and teammates.
