UPDATE (05/05/16): I am finishing up my first year at North Idaho College (NIC) in Coeur d'Alene, ID. I have had a successful freshman year. I had 5 top 10 finishes and one Top 5. I will compete in our NWAC Conference Championship on May 15 & 16 in Walla Walla, Wa. I was voted team captain of my squad and have led NIC as the top male golfer. In addition to success with golf, I was awarded the 2015-16 Academic-Athletic Award and was a nominee for the Male Athlete of the Year. I have learned the delicate balance of managing a full golf schedule and full class load. I have enjoyed my time in Coeur d'Alene, but I am ready to take my game to the next level.
UPDATE (11/2014): I have completed my final year of high school golf. During the season, I completed 8 out of 12 rounds under par (6 in a row), with 8 top 10 finishes. My team used my score in every match to compute our team score. I finished first on my team in region points and scoring average. My scoring average was 70.90, my handicapped dropped to +0.4. I finished 4th in region standings, 17th at the 5A State Tournament and made the Utah 5A All-State 2nd Team. Our Region was very talented. In the 5A State Tournament, our region teams finished 2nd, 3rd, 4th andn 5th. My team finished 3rd at State. I have spent the last year competing day in and day out with the best of the best in the state of Utah. In know this has enabled me to improve my game - and I'm not finished improving. I know I have more room for growth and I want the chance to continue to grow in a competitive collegiate program. My off-season is full of out-of-state tournaments. The first being the FCG Invitational at Badlands Golf Club in Las Vegas (Nov 29-30) as well as the FCG San Diego Jr Am (Dec 28-31) and the FCWT at The Wigwam (Jan 24-25).
(Original Statement)I started playing golf with my great grandfather at a young age. Slowly the game of golf has changed from a hobby into a major part of my life.
I had a real eye opening moment during my first high school tryout. I had always played golf, but never competitively. I didn't make the varsity team and it was really hard to swallow. From that experience I learned the valuable skill of setting my mind to a goal and achieving it. The following year I not only made the team, but I dropped my scoring average by 12 strokes and half way through the season became the number one golfer on my team. I took fifth on the All-Region Team.
I have achieved the same accomplishments during my Junior year and also made the Utah 5A All-State Team - Honorable Mention. For my upcoming Senior year, my goals are to continue to lead my team and increase my standing in my region and state tournament.
In addition to playing in my high school and local state Junior Program (UJGA and J.E.T. Tours), I have started competing nationally on the Future Collegiate World Tour, Rocky Mountain Junior Tour and the Future Champions Golf Tour. By playing on these tours, I have had the opportunity to compete on courses such as The Wigwam, The TPC Las Vegas, Primm Valley and The Broadmoor in Colorado. These experiences have been invaluable in elevating my game to the next level.
This last year I have added Medalist (2 times) to my resume, qualified for the 116th Utah State Amateur, turned in my first bogie-free round, scored my lowest tournament score of 66 and dropped my handicap to a 1.3. My game is continuing to improve and I am not done.
Now with my high school/Junior career coming to an end, my goals are shifting to becoming a contributing member of a competitive collegiate golf program. I bring with me strong leadership skills and a solid work ethic. I am a motivated student of the game and look forward to meeting with you!
