Personal Statement

Hello, my name is Paul-Arthur but people mostly call me PA. I am French and I live in the United States in Virginia Beach.

My dream is to become professional golfer, but before that, my goal is to be part of a university that has a golf team that is in first or second division, and to be part of that team. I would like to study business and economy in that school because I am interested in both of them. My handicap is currently a +0.4. Since I just moved to Virginia Beach last august, so only few tournaments to be ranked in the U.S. So if you want to learn more about my previous seasons, do not hesitate to check on the French Golf federation website. https://pages.ffgolf.org/merite/jeunes/messieurs.
My French National rankings are the following 30th in the junior national French ranking and 305th in the adult French national ranking.

I discovered golf and soccer when I was 5. But my heart went definitely towards golf when I was 11.  Since this day, golf has always been a huge part of my life as I spent a lot of time on the golf course alone, with my family or with my friends. I love golf for a few reasons : first of all, it is a sport where you have to compete with yourself and where you can constantly improve something about it.  Also, it is a sport where you have to be very serious in your training. Often, people may think that I sacrifice my life for golf, but honestly it doesn't feel like it to me since I love this sport so much. Finally, I also love it because since you are always outside, while you play, you can also look at the things around you.

What makes me who I AM is that I am a very hardworking person when it comes to achieving a goal or a dream. I can also sometimes be a little stubborn but it doesn't interfere with my learning. I am also very organized and serious in my work. Due to my parents being in the military, I always had to learn to be responsible on my own. Usually, the people around me say that I am someone who is easy to live with and to be around of. Besides French, I can also speak fluently English and some Spanish, which can be a huge advantage for the future. And finally since I moved a lot, it made be capable of adapting easily to different places. What I can finally say about myself is that I am someone who is happy.

Events

  • Camp/Event
  • MAPGA Denny McCarthy Invitational
  • 11/09/24 to 11/10/24
  • I finished in 15th place out of 65 players with the scores of 76-75 (6750 yards). My game was not the best and some mistakes throughout my rounds, but I fought through to keep scores that kept me in the top 20
  • Camp/Event
  • MAPGA Kingsmill Invitational
  • 11/02/24 to 11/03/24
  • I finished in 8th out of 60 players with the scores of 73-77.
  • Camp/Event
  • HJGT Mid Atlantic Fall Junior Open
  • 9/21/24 to 9/22/24
  • I finished in first place with the scores of 70-73 (-2;+1). First day: 14 GIR, 10 FIR, 31 putts. Second day: 14 GIR, 13 FIR, 30 putts. Overall it was a very good tournament with some very consistent golf. I won in a 5 hole playoff where I kept fighting to be able to come out as the winner after 41 holes.
  • Camp/Event
  • HURRICANE NORTHERN VIRGINIA OPEN
  • 9/07/24 to 9/08/24
  • I finished first with the scores of 77-69. I didn't play my best golf during this first round with some really average golf all around, on the second day though I played some really consistent golf and was able to fight back against my competitors that were ahead on the leaderboard at first. I had 16 greens in regulation and 31 putt in that second round
  • Camp/Event
  • Hurricane Northern Virginia Open
  • 8/24/24 to 8/25/24
  • I finished 2nd with the scores of 76-73. Overall the things I take out of this tournament was a putting that kept improving throughout the tournament which got me into a very positive attitude. The negative aspect of the tournament was definitely my driving as I missed more fairways than I usually do. These missed fairways didn’t put me in a lot of trouble they just didn’t let me attack as much pins as I would have liked to. Overall still a positive tournament to remember
  • Camp/Event
  • MAPGA Tour Championship
  • 8/19/24 to 8/20/24
  • I finished 7th with the scores of 72-77, my first day was very positive especially with the putting, my second day was not as good with some strategy mistakes on two holes and the fact that the greens were punched on the second course did not help.
  • Camp/Event
  • VSGA Brickshire Championship
  • 8/17/24 to 8/18/24
  • I finished 7th with the scores of 72-73, overall a very positive tournament as I played some very consistent golf with a great short game and putting, just lost a couple strokes because of some bad strategy decisions; besides that it was a good tournament.
  • Camp/Event
  • AJGA Greyson Sigg open
  • 8/12/24 to 8/14/24
  • I finished 41st with the scores of 70-73-80. I think this was a very positive tournament with my long game with accurate and consistent shots, only issue was definitely my putting throughout the three days, besides that really fun tournament with a nice course besides the aerated greens and a good organization.
  • Camp/Event
  • French National team U16 Championship
  • 7/10/24 to 7/11/24
  • I shot +1-+4 in windy and rain conditions and finished 1st out of 85 players to represent my team.
  • Camp/Event

  • 7/01/24 to 7/02/24
  • I shot +1-+7 in a difficult tournament with a lot of wind and a lot of good players.
  • Camp/Event

  • I finished 8th out of 85 players with the scores of 77-73. The course had a slope of 141 and a rating of 74.6. Overall good tournament
  • Camp/Event
  • 54 Hole MAPGA Peninsula Open
  • 6/07/24 to 6/09/24
  • I finished first in my category with the scores of 72-73-74. A very good tournament for my game which was great all week. Negative part was the putting where definitely not enough birdie putts dropped
  • Camp/Event
  • 54 Carolina Junior Open HJGT
  • 5/25/24 to 5/27/24
  • I finished 2nd with the scores of 72-78-72. Overall it was a positive tournament with a good play overall. The 78 was due to a bad day of iron game and not a good play of up and down.
  • Camp/Event
  • Hurricane Northern Virginia
  • 5/11/24 to 5/12/24
  • I finished 2nd out of 38 players with the scores of +3-+2. On the first day I had 35 putts and 14 greens and only missed 3 fairways on one of the tightest courses I’ve played. On Sunday I had 31 putts with 11 greens and 5 missed fairways. I was one under through 14 but unfortunately tripled 15. Overall good tournament
  • Camp/Event

  • I finished 15th out of 55 at my first AJGA event with the score of +4-+8. I had 31 putts on the first day and 33 on the second day. The condition were very windy on a course with very tough greens.
  • Camp/Event
  • HJGT Norther Virginia Open
  • 3/23/24 to 3/24/24
  • I shot +6-+4 and finished 2nd. The slope of the course was 141, playing from 6800 yards. On the first day I hit 80% of fairways, 56% of greens and 35 putts. On the second day I hit 86% of fairways, 72% of greens and 34 putts. The conditions were rainy and windy especially on the first day.
  • Camp/Event
  • HJGT - 54 HOLES (WAGR)
  • 2/17/24 to 2/19/24
  • 4th with the scores of 79-77-75. WAGR course : 74.1/143 / 6785 yards. Day 1 : 33 putts, 10 greens in regulation and 13 fairways out of 14. Day 2 : 33 putts, 10 greens in regulation and 13 fairways. Day 3 : 35 putts, 14 greens in regulation and 13 fairways.
  • Camp/Event

  • Camp/Event
  • VSGA Indian Creek 36 hole Championship
  • 11/18/23 to 11/19/23
  • I finished 10th shooting +6-+8 on a tough course with very narrow tee shots. Unfortunately, my tee shots were completely off point all week-end which always put me in very difficult spots or even sometimes in out of bounds. In fact on the first day I only got 55% of fairways while on the second day I only got 40%. It was difficult for me to bounce back since my driving is usually one of the best parts of my game.
  • Camp/Event
  • Michael Breed Invitational
  • 11/04/23 to 11/05/23
  • I finished 20th shooting +6-+8 on a very tough course in some cold conditions. Played good on the front nine both days but kind of threw away both of my rounds on the back nine. In general not my best but still a fun weekend.
  • Camp/Event
  • VSGA Bide a Wee 36 hole championship
  • 10/28/23 to 10/29/23
  • I finished 4th out of 60 shooting a 70, 2 under and a 73, 1 over from 6700 yards. First day: 15 greens, 31 putts, 87% of fairways. Second day: 13 greens, 33 putts, 90% of fairways. A positive tournament.
  • Camp/Event
  • State High School Championship
  • 10/09/23 to 10/09/23
  • I shot 5 over finishing 12th out of 60 on a very tough course that is the home course of the James Maddison University. Overall, I was a little disappointed with my day, but I keep the positive out of it considering the conditions that we played in and how tough the course was. I had 30 putts and 56 percent of Greens in regulations, and 77 percent of fairways.
  • Camp/Event
  • College Prep Mid Atlantic Junior Championship
  • 9/09/23 to 9/10/23
  • I finished 3rd out of 28 with the scores of +3-+4. We had to play in complete rain and ended up having a delay on saturday finishing my round after 6 holes. I then had to play 30 holes on sunday. I had a total of 64 putts in the tournament. On the first round I got 72% of GIR and 92 % of fairways. On the second day I got 60% of GIR and 87% of fairways.
