My goal for college is to find a school that will allow me to grow academically and in golf. I plan to major in finance or entrepreneurship. I hope to find a golf opportunity at a school with a strong golf and business program where I can continue to develop both on the course and in the classroom. I have played golf since a very young age and am passionate about golf and enjoy working to improve my game. I’m confident I will be a strong individual contributor to a golf program. At the same time, I enjoy the camaraderie of a team. With my current high school team, the five of us are very tight and spend time together on and off the course. (I even work at an indoor golf simulator business with 2 of my teammates.) The competition among our teammates makes us work harder at practice, and on the course it helps us achieve a shared goal. Also, while I do spend a lot of time golfing, I feel I have a good balance in my life with interests outside golf too. I enjoy spending time with my family, work multiple part-time jobs, and attend high school events with friends and classmates. I’ve been complimented often on the course and in the classroom on being polite, kind and friendly. I generally get along with almost everyone. On the course I am known for my etiquette. Over the years, many parents of playing competitors, coaches and adults I am paired with have commented on my demeanor, and willingness to explain rules or offer guidance to newer players. For my athletics, I have grown about 6 inches in the past 2 years and am now 6’4”. I take advantage of my height in my golf game and I am typically longer with my driver, woods, and irons compared to my playing competitors. I have great touch around the greens and now that I have stopped growing (at least as fast), I have started to work on refining my wedge game, which is an area I know will improve my ability to score. So far two years into high school golf I have placed 3rd team all conference as a freshman and 2nd Team All Conference as a sophomore. I reached the Sectional Meet as an individual my freshman year and with my team as a Sophomore. In the upcoming two years my goal is to make the 1st Team All Conference both years and compete for Conference Player of the Year. Lastly, I am a good student and carry a 3.72 unweighted cumulative GPA thru the end of my sophomore year. I earned academic All State for the 2019 school year. While I have not taken either the ACT or SAT yet, I did score 1160 on the PSAT. I attend an academically challenging high school, and believe I will be able to manage the time commitments of a golf program while maintaining a strong GPA in college.
