Jonathan Carkeek '12 Recruiting Profile

I am a physical, puck-moving defenseman, and my goal is to play hockey in college.  I am a shutdown defenseman that can also run the power play and loves to jump up in the rush.  I am a right shot who can play either side.  I have learned a lot as a leader on my teams, and it has made me a better Captain every year.  In high school I played all four years on Varsity, was named an all-star all four years, and was named 1^st team all-state as a junior.  In addition, I was an Assistant Captain my sophomore and junior year, and I was Captain my senior year.  My senior year I led my team to our first ever state championship and a third place finish at Nationals.  On the travel side, my past two seasons have been under the Phoenix Firebirds organization for the U18AAA team.  For both seasons I was Captain under two different coaches.  This past season we played in the NAPHL (North American Prospects Hockey League).  We finished 7^th out of 17 teams, which was a good showing for our first year in the league.  I will be starting the season in the NAHL with the Springfield Jr. Blues.  I am planning on playing a year of juniors before college.  My academics are good; I have graduated from a Jesuit High School with a 4.2 cumulative GPA and a 2010 on the SAT.  I am looking for a great academic as well as athletic school.
