I proudly call small town British Columbia, Canada my home and the Kootenay's is where I set my dreams to be "A HOCKEY PLAYER".
Fortunately for me there is not much to do in a town "population less than 800 people". Most kids in winter months would hunker down inside, hunt, ski, sled, hike and ice fish. My Father played Junior A Hockey in Alberta, received a NCAA Scholarship to Northern Michigan, and won 2 National Championships with the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology and played professional hockey in Germany. One day when I was 3 years old my dad put skates on me and my sister in our back yard on a large frozen puddle, I see pictures of this in my baby book and I think this is when I was hooked.
Over the years and winter months all I wanted to do was hang out at the local "tin" roof arena. Once I was older every chance I got I went to public skating and shinny, played mini sticks with my mom and eventually registered in the local hockey program. As our registration numbers were low, I usually played underage. Learning the sport with older kids made me competitive, eager to learn and I worked extra hard to prove myself. My family eventually moved to Kimberley, BC and I enrolled in Hockey Leadership Program with coach Jerry Bancks. "Sports School" as we called it, emphasized dedication, work ethic, leadership, goal setting, academics and being a good person. These are all traits that I embody and hold true to me today.
My aspirations are to continue my hockey playing career, receive a NCAA Division 1 scholarship and play professional Hockey. After hockey is over I hope to pursue a teaching, finance or engineering.
I am an excellent skater, I am 6"5 and 222 lbs, I have a long stride and reach that excels in special team scenarios. I have to admit I am a gentle giant off the ice, but on the ice I am a force to be reckoned with "I play STERZER like Hockey" as my current coach has called my style. A Beast, relentless in the corners, hard shot, an energy grinder, big body in front of the goalie, eager to get into the dirty areas to create offensive plays for myself and my teammates.
I take a lot of pride in being a role model in my community. In the past I have volunteered as an on ice helper/mentor for Can-skate and Local Hockey teams, programs and schools. I have worked in areas for persons with disabilities and children. I have stellar recommendations from my billet families, and I am a fan favorite and a loyal team mate.
I consider myself a B+ student and excel in scholastic areas that I am passionate about. I am undecided at this time on my area of study. I do enjoy the trades, possibly teaching, finance and the stock market also interests me.
I am a Power Forward and I 100% would be an asset to your school, hockey team and community. I would be grateful and honored to represent NCAA Division 1 Hockey. Thank you
