I have been playing hockey since I was 5 years old. When I first stepped onto the ice, I instantly fell in love with skating and each day was more determined to get better. I would never cut corners or rush the skill I was trying to perfect. My practice style hasn’t changed and it shows in the way I perform in games—my passes are crisp, my skating is technically sound, and I have strong game sense. In my Bantam draft year, I broke my finger blocking a shot during a preseason game. I was cleared to play with only two regular season games left. We finished third in provincials and I went undrafted but I’m proud of how that year made me mentally stronger. Now, after winning the Tier 2 BC provincial championship in my first year of Midget, I continue to better myself at each practice and every workout with my trainer.
I am looking for a school that offers a kinesiology program as well as a strong hockey program. I want to play for a school who desires an athletic, skilled, coachable, determined, and mature hockey player with an imposing upside as a student. I am excited for the opportunity of playing intense collegiate hockey as well as growing as a student in an engaging academic program.
In addition to winning first place in Provincials last year, I have also competed in provincial championships two other times. In Port Moody, I have won team of the year three times all in which we were Tier 2 Champions (league). In my last year of spring hockey, I won the Hardest Worker award for the 2001 age group in the program. In tournament play, some of my highlights are winning first place in the Victoria MHA Classic (peewee), second place Phoenix Invitational (peewee), second place in Port Moody Remembrance Day Tournament (peewee), second place Vernon Snake Pit Classic (bantam), second place in Port Moody Thanksgiving Tournament twice (bantam), MVP in Kamloops Midget Tournament (2017). Academically, I have been on the honour roll two years in a row, I have received the Super G award (work habits) two years in a row, Outstanding Student in PE 9- Male, Outstanding Student in Fitness 9, Top student Fitness 9, Teacher’s Pride PE 10- Male. I also continue to work to maintain my 3.8 GPA.
