I am a 6' 4", 207 lb. defenseman with a large frame. I am a team first player who consistently works hard on and off the ice to improve the team, and my own hockey skills. I also am a hard working, dedicated student. I love to play the game, and am committed to becoming the best hockey player, student and person I can.
I have been told that I am a good skater, especially for someone my size. I consider myself a stay at home defenseman, and I try to keep my game simple. I will jump into the rush when it makes sense to do so. I have a hard, accurate shot from the point, and am skilled at shooting one-timers. I play a physical brand of hockey, and I like to work in the corners and along the boards.
I am a late bloomer who is committed to consistently elevating my level of hockey skill and overall play. I work with a power skating instructor and a puck handling instructor to improve my skills in those areas. Additionally, I have worked extensively with a former NHL defenseman on defensive zone play and defensive skills. During the off season I work with the strength and conditioning coach of the Anaheim Ducks to become stronger and more agile.
Hockey Achievements and Awards
I was awarded the Most Improved Player award for the Steinbach Pistons of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League during the 2013-14 season, and was named the player of the game one time during the season.
In 2012, I was one of six defensemen in my age group from California selected to attend the USA Hockey Pacific District Select Camp in Kent, Washington.
I played in the Hockey Night in Boston Boys Major tournament in July 2012, and was named Sophomore MVP for the tournament. I was also selected for the tournament's All Star Game.
I was invited to (and attended) the Cali Prospects Camp showcase in Los Angeles in April 2012, and again in April 2013. Cali Camp is an invite only showcase for the best players in California, and others from the western United States. I was selected as a Game MVP during both years by the junior scouts (CHL, USHL, and Canadian Junior A) in attendance at the showcase.
I have been invited to (and attended) several junior team main camps during the past two years, including Major Junior (Tier 1) and Junior A (Tier 2) camps. I attended the Dubuque Fighting Saints (USHL) main camp in June 2012, the Portland Winterhawks (WHL) main camp in August 2012, and the Gatineau Olympiques (QMJHL) main camp in August 2013. (My team won the Neely Cup at the Portland Winterhawks main camp.) I also attended a NAHL camp, and was named to the All Star game.
Current Team
For the 2015-2016 season I am playing for the Walpole Express Premier Team in the Eastern Hockey League. Last year I playing for the New Hampshire Junior Monarchs of the Eastern Hockey League.
During the 2013-14 season, I played for the Steinbach Pistons of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League, and was the only rookie defenseman on the team. The Pistons are a great, up and coming organization, and finished the 2013-14 regular season as the 8th ranked team in the CJHL.
I am committed to doing well in school, and graduated high school in 2014.
