I always like to challenge myself, whether that's physically or mentally. I was told taking all AP classes for my senior year was going to be near impossible to maintain while playing hockey, but I knew the only way to get better was to do the things that are uncomfortable to me. The payoff in the long run, were all my academic scholarships to these universities. I want an education that pushes my limits and helps me develop not only in the classroom, but also outside those doors. That same mindset is what drives me as a hockey player. I do not want the easy route because that is not always an option for me. Coaches have always told me that I work hard on the ice, but it is what I do to train off the ice, that makes me stand out as a player. Being the small defenseman that I am, only forces me to work twice as hard as the guy standing next to me. I am proud to say that my skill and strength as a player has always been driven by my work ethic.
