The definition of pride is “feeling satisfaction as a result of one’s own achievements or those whom one is closely associated with”, like one’s hockey team. The one season of my hockey career that I am most proud of is the season where my team grew from the last place team to winning the state championship. That season taught me how to lead, the value of persistence, and most importantly to share my passion for hockey with my teammates and coaches.
My leadership style grew from the adversity of that season, I learned to lead by example and encourage my teammates. I demonstrated all the leadership lessons of that season by being chosen as the Assistant Captain on the U14 AA team this year and I was lucky to serve an amazing group of teammates. My inner drive and discipline off the ice is demonstrated by my 3.67 GPA. For my high school years, the goal is to prepare myself for the next stage in my hockey career. I want my coaches to know that I always put in the extra time training in the off season to become a better player. Since, I started playing hockey later than most of my teammates, my drive and determination has resulted in me being one of the highest scoring defenseman in my association.
One of the most important things that I do as a hockey player is to share my love of the game with other players. This year I volunteered to be a practice coach for the U10 AA team and worked at multiple Try Hockey events. What I want coaches to know when they look at my profile is that I am a skilled defenseman, a compassionate leader, and a driven hockey player.
