Hockey has always been cool. I used to be the only one at my school, besides my brother, that played hockey when I was in Texas. Hockey is not as popular as football, though, in Texas.
I like to go by Nick. I come from a family of five and have one sister named Sydney, two years younger than me and one brother named Jordan, three years younger than me (he's a goalie). My dad's a nurse and my mom's an orthopedic surgeon. We are a very active, close family. I got my initial interest in hockey shortly before I turned 1 year old. I would sit on my parents' laps at Dallas Stars games. I knew every team and every logo. I started skating at age 3 and have loved it ever since.
I have always played multiple sports and this has gotten harder to manage as I've gotten older, due to the commitment involved in hockey. My other favorite sports are soccer and baseball.
I attended a rigorous college prep K-12 school in Texas through grade 10 and had the constant challenge of balancing school, hockey, other sports, Boy Scouts and guitar lessons. I am currently finishing up my Eagle Scout requirements.
I just started my junior year at Avon Old Farms School. Academics are important to me and I am currently interested in pursuing some type of studies that involve business.
I have always had to overcome being slightly shorter than my hockey colleagues, but I think this has made me appreciate the importance of "hockey IQ" and what I’ve needed to do to stay in the game and become a better player.
I have always felt playing other sports was important and would help me with hockey. I played hockey this past fall and hope to play baseball in the spring.
My ultimate goal is to play college hockey.
