Hello my name is Ryan MacKellar. I graduated from high school in 2014 and am currently chasing my dream of becoming a collegiate hockey player. I have played hockey my entire life, but that does not do justice to how important the game is to me. Every single day I base my actions around how I can become a better hockey player. I have had this mindset since the beginning of high school, where other kids were going on vacation or planning weekend parties; I consistently found myself in the gym or on the ice so that I could follow my dream. I strive to be the hardest and most dedicated player on every team which has show to my coaches and team mates as I was elected captain my last two years of midget hockey and this past year with the Odessa Jackalopes I won the "character" award as a rookie. I think that wherever I end up I will put all of my chips in and do whatever I can to help my team succeed. I am a very fast and physical forward that loves to be the first man in on the forecheck as well as the first forward tracking the play back into our own zone. As I continue to get more confident at the junior level I want to work on my play making ability and the more finesse side of my game so I can become a better all around player.
Off of the ice and in the classroom I have also found a great deal of success. I was top thirty in my class of over 600 for my first three years of high school and finished with a rank of 43. I have always made my grades a priority in my life and will continue to live by that when I go to a University. As of now I have always had an interest in engineering and nutrition but have not 100% committed to what major I want to go in.
I am not one to boast about my achievements, but I really do believe that I bring a lot to the table in terms of hockey and school and I know that wherever I end up I will always strive to reach my full potential.
