Personal Statement
My collegiate aspirations academically, athletically, and socially are firmly grounded in the family and community values that define me as a person. I want to maintain my very good grades, earn a degree, play hockey, and be a leader. I want to be a good " teammate" both on and off the ice and I want to make a positive contribution to my country and society. These goals require skill, character and perseverance and I know from past experience I have these qualities. For example, I have been cut from hockey teams but I never gave up. I came away from those experiences more resolved than ever to work harder, improve my skills, and move forward. Since I have overcome adversity, I am a better student, athlete, and person. I believe strongly that the life lessons I have learned thus far in my life have prepared me for the next phase. I will continue to push forward academically and strive toward my goal of playing hockey at the highest level. There is a pedigree in the Lowry genes and hard work is an engrained attribute. I have relatives that have played professional and junior hockey, professional and collegiate rugby, and skied at a national level. I believe that I will be a great candidate for any program at the collegiate level. I look forward to demonstrating this for you!
