Personal Statement

My name is Rihards Borskis, I just turned 16 and live in Jurmala, a city by the baltic sea just outside of Riga, Latvia.
I learned to skate and play Ice Hockey at the age of 5. Since the age of 8 I play as a Forward in competitive Ice Hockey In Latvia Youth League.

During my youth career I have been playing in my age category as well as one above mine:
While playing in U11 I also played in U12
While playing in U12 I also played in U 14
While playing in U15 I also played in U17

I have played for 3 different Teams in Latvia and travelled to many Tournaments also outside of Latvia (Belarus, Lithuania, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Estonia, Russia and China). My skills have been improving year by year, so that my decisions to transfer teams have always been in the interest of elevating my level of competition.

My plan for the future is to apply for an athletic scholarship to play in an NCAA Division 1 school in USA beginning in the Fall of 2024.

UPDATE:

I moved to Sweden (Stockholm) in the Summer of 2021 as I got an Tryout Invitation to the Flemingsberg's IK J18 Team which play in the Division 1 ( just one below Elite) . After the Tryout they offered me to join the team immediately.

We had a very good preseason and finished first in our division to qualify for the next round with the top teams of other regions in Stockholm.  Then we finished among the top 5 to advance to a best of 3 playoff round against our regions rival Tumba which be beat 2-1 after losing the opening match. This put us in the promotion league where the top  3 teams advance to the top tier (Elite) and after a bumby start losing the first 3 games, we beat the odds and had an incredible run, grabbing every point there is to get to make it an exciting last matchday winning against the the top team in shootout.

After that incredible season I got an invite from my ex Team in Riga (Baltie Vilki) to join them in the Riga Cup (which is held every Spring and every youth Team in Riga is a part of).

I am very excited for the upcoming season in Stockholm at the Elite Level.
