My name is Oliver Woollard. I’ve been playing hockey for about 10 years. I play center for the Presque Isle Wildcats varsity hockey team and the Maine Moose Tier II team. I consider myself a grinder/power forward and I love creating for my teammates and doing work behind the net. I also play very defensive minded and like to model my game after retired bruins legend Patrice Bergeron who I watched growing up.
I believe I’m very coachable and I’ll never turn down any advice or opportunity to get better. I work as hard as I can in the offseason to assure that I’m in the best shape possible. I’m in the weight room 4-5 times a week.
Im also extremely dedicated to the sport. We don’t have ice during the summer in Presque Isle, so in the summer, I often travel 2-3 hours to get some skating and puck handling in.
My first three years of high school hockey have been successful. I received an award for all rookie first team my freshman year, the honorable mention award my sophomore year, and 4th team all star my junior year. I’m looking to improve every year and those awards have showed me that my hard work has paid off so far.
I’m also a dedicated student in the classroom and I take my academics seriously. My freshman and sophomore year I was recognized at my schools academic award ceremony for academic excellence.
I’ve played lots of sports throughout my life, but I just get a different feeling on the ice. I feel like I’m truly meant to be there and I shouldn’t leave. And I’m going to stay on it until I achieve my goal of playing at the next level.
