Personal Statement

Coaches say I am the most coachable player they have coached. They also say I am a leader by example. Those are humbling words that mean a lot to me. As hard as I work on the ice, I also work hard at school. This is reflected in my grades and test scores. It is also important to be well rounded and that is why I do community service. I am grateful to be able to volunteer at a local rink. I am able to teach skating and hockey to young children. I look forward to continuing my hockey career into college. I believe I have a great foundation to bring to a school. I will be a great student, a great ambassador and I believe a player any coach would love to have on their team. Please take the opportunity to reach out to me. I am excited to learn about all the possibilities available to me and what I can bring to those great schools.

  • Ryan Holke, Vikings Goalie Coach Head Goalie Coach - Orland Park Vikings ATHLETIC ABILITY 100% "Tj has great size. Big goalie in the net, with a low wide stance that takes away the bottom half of the net. Quick acting butterfly which helps him seal the ice almost immediately. Once down, finding net down low is challenging. Hands are also very good, to where he is able to control rebounds with both the glove and the blocker. His movement side to side is great, and strong, while his post play is the same. Having a big body in the net helps tremendously with taking away short side net from the goal line. His skating is strong, which gives him the capability to get out and stop the puck behind net being rung around boards. Overall, a really strong, solid, tall goaltender." LEADERSHIP 90% TEAM PLAYER 100% EASY TO WORK WITH 100% "Tj is a great kid. Very eager to learn and better himself as a goalie. Even down the the smallest detail, if he has a question, he’s asking. Always wants to learn more about the position. Very driven goalie, as well. He has a great habit of not standing still too often. In practice, he’s taking what movements he’s learning and maybe struggling with, and practicing them on his own. All going back to his eagerness to learn and better himself. Never places blame, and doesn’t lose his head. Very even tempered goaltender. "

  • "TJ's athletic ability is excellent (8.5 - 9.0) relative to his peers and has much more potential under the hood. TJ has experienced his major growth spurt and has the opportunity to gain much more strength and weight. However, his agility, flexibility and coordination are excellent (high 9) and his cognitive skills on the ice are top notch (a solid 10.) In short, he's not done developing yet, but has an extremely high hockey intelligence. TJ studies the game so his movements in the net are efficient. His pre-shot angling and depth selections allow him to minimize drastic movements and wait out shooters. This cognitive advantage effectively leverages his athletic ability. His general calm demeanor and patience allows him to slow the game in tight situations, a leadership trait that his teammates emulate when he is in net. TJ is the type of player that will up-level well; he is designed to play in highly competitive leagues where cognitive advantages become more important than raw unrefined athletic power (i.e. where everyone is 'good'). " "TJ's personal strength comes directly from the family in which he has been raised. As a level 4 coach of 12 years and a high level player myself, I have seen very few families more committed to the development of a player both on and off ice. The familial structure that surrounds TJ translates directly to his behavior on the ice, which is exemplary. But also in the room. TJ is not a 'rah-rah' leader, but rather a quiet prepared player that exudes an "actions speak louder than words" demeanor. When it's "time to go" .... he's just ready. And cool like Kool-Aid. Character is passed down generationally, is very hard to learn and impossible to fake.. kinda like class. TJ has both."

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
