My name is Lance Markowitz, last season I played my first season of junior hockey with the Hudson Havoc of the USPHL Premier. As I continue my hockey career, my ultimate goal is to continue playing in college. Ever since I turned 5 years old, my dream has been to play professional hockey, and I know that the best way to get there is through college hockey because it also provides an educational back-up plan. Since I was fixated on watching the mites play when I was 4 years old, I have never stopped loving hockey.
This is my 14th season of hockey and through the course of my career I have done everything I can to improve my game including training with a figure skater to help improve my stride and edgework, participating in power skating clinics with Kim Muir two summers in a row, working on a hockey treadmill, going to clinics at Puckmasters to improve my stickhandling, participating in Turcotte Hockey School to improve my hands, utilizing the hockey intelligym to improve my decision making skills, and working with coaches Rich Mihelic and Ryan Misiak to improve my stickhandling. I lead by example by giving one hundred and ten percent all of the time. I have always been coachable, gritty, hardworking, composed, and encouraging to my teammates. This applies to any time I step on the ice including practices, games, off-ice workouts, and other team functions. All these attributes led to me being voted team captain of the 2002 Suburban Stars one year as well as captain of Orchard Lake United 18U.
Currently, I have a 3.89 weighted GPA. I have taken six AP classes (Biology, US History, Spanish, Statistics, Psychology, and World History) and received 1 3, 3 4’s and a 5 on my AP exams. I have only take honors and A.P. classes because I like being challenged. My SAT score was a 1290 including a 660 on Evidence-Based Reading and Writing and a 630 on the math section. I also play saxophone for my school band and just finished my fourth year of Spanish (which I want to become fluent in). Outside of school, sell and collect hockey memorabilia (including 15,000 hockey cards), coins, rocks and fossils, and playing card decks. Additionally, I have worked since I turned 13. If I play on your team, I can assure you that I will bring every ounce of passion, determination, and grit that I have to your program. I appreciate your consideration and time in reviewing my profile.
