In my life the most influential people have been my parents and my coaches. I have watched hockey for what seems to be my whole life seeing the pros play on the TV and that is where my love of the game really started. Playing hockey, I have learned that I am a very determined individual and I love making new friends. My goal for the rest of high school is to finish my senior year with a 3.5 grade point average or above for this year to help boost my overall GPA. The beginning of my High school career was not the best. I didn't know if I wanted to go to college due to the cost. But now that I know what I want to do, my determination has my grades rising. I want to graduate college with a 3.5 grade point average or above which is a high goal to set, but I believe I can do it.
To get where I am now, I have gone through some forms of hardship. At first, my father did not want me to play. My persistence of asking persuaded him to let me. From the moment I stepped on the ice, I knew I wanted to be a goalie. There were times I wanted to give up and stop playing because of how bad my teams have been. Getting an average of about 45 shots per game is not very fun. My love, respect and commitment to the sport was the only thing that kept me going. My dedication and determination to get better led to me getting extra training outside of team practice, not just a couple of times but very consistently. I have traveled around the state of Michigan and as far as Minnesota to gain the training I desired. Looking back on my past years, I realize that I should thank my teams for making me the goalie I am today. It would have been easy to be a goalie behind a great team, taking very few shots. Being the support in net to a struggling team pushed me to work harder to achieve set goals and milestones. My challenges and opportunities have groomed me into a solid leader and a person who will work as hard as it takes. I have the drive to get the job done. If I am asked to do push ups, my only question for you is - "How many?" I am always striving and pushing myself to get better in every aspect of the position. At the same time, I like to have fun with everyone until it is time for the work to be done. I would describe myself as a funny, trustworthy, dependable teammate that people can go to when they need help or someone to lead.
