I started playing hockey at the age of four. I immediately fell in love with the game. It brought me a happiness that I never experienced with any other activities. I think the reason I love this game so much is because of the constant movement. I was an active kid and continue to be active as I get older, so, the constant motion gives me an adrenaline rush like no other. I also liked the complexity of the sport. First, I had to learn how to skate and balance myself, then to stick handle and shoot. This kept me busy as I tried to figure out each step and become better. I became determined to be the best player on the ice and would not stop practicing until I was satisfied. This mindset has kept me driven for the last twelve years, along with my love for the game, to keep getting better.
Since I was about eight years old, I have always dreamed about playing hockey in college. I want to be able to show others that I can play at a higher level in hockey. I have dedicated a lot of time to this sport and I want to show everyone the success one can achieve with hard work. As I have gotten older, I have continued to set small goals for myself and achieve them one by one. Now that I am sixteen, playing hockey in college is one of my next goals I would like to achieve. If I get a chance to do this, I would like to work on my leadership skills, on and off the ice, and improve whatever team I play on in any way possible. I would push myself to try to be in the top ten for points and, hopefully, the top three by my senior year.
I believe that I would be a good candidate for a college team because I tend to work hard at everything I do. I know when I get there that I will not be the best player right away, but with the mindset that I have, I will not stop pushing myself until I become the best player I can possibly be. Another thing that makes me an important part of any team, is my commitment to a team and the fact that I am a team player. I put my teammates needs before my own, and try to make the best decisions to have a positive impact on the game end and my teammates' success. With that said, another reason I would be a good fit is because I love to score. There is no better feeling than when you put the puck in the net and get to see your teammates reaction as you celebrate.
I think what makes me different from other recruits is the fact that I am smart, hard-working, and very respectful. Obviously, most hockey recruits have talent in the game, but not many players have the grades and the talent together that I have. I work just as hard in school as I do at hockey and this allows me to have an advantage on other players. Another advantage that I have, is my personality, on and off the ice. I am a very outgoing person and tend to get along with everyone around me. This allows me to bond with my teammates. As I get closer with my teammates, I turn into a better player myself. Finally, because of my hard work and dedication, I am usually in the top three goal scorers on every team I am on, if not the highest.
My dream since I was little was to play at the highest level possible. With the hard work I am going to put in during the next few years, I hope it is enough to be successful on this goal. There is nothing that would make me happier then to put on a uniform for a college team.
