Carter Martens '25 Recruiting Profile

My name is Carter Martens.  Thank you for taking the time to view my profile.  I currently play varsity hockey at Waseca High School in Waseca, MN.  I have been playing hockey since I was 3 years old.  After 2 years of skating at the mite level, the High School hockey coach who was very involved in the lower levels of hockey in Waseca noticed my hand-eye coordination and suggested that my parents have me try my hand at goaltending.  I have been a goalie ever since. 

I have played hockey for the most part year-round since my first year of Peewees and have attended many camps and training academies.  I have participated in many AAA programs, Midwest Selects, Red/Black League, The Goalie Club, and Top Gun Academy through MAP South Hockey.

My biggest strength on the ice and in the net is the ability to be composed.  I was given the nickname of “cuke” by my coach because he always said that I was cool as a cucumber.  No matter what the score is, I have always found the ability to be “dialed in”.  This has allowed my team to always be much more aggressive in front of the net knowing that I am always willing to do whatever I am able to do to stop a puck.  They also know that I am going to come out of the net and play the puck aggressively to help them win the game.

My goal is to play collegiate hockey at the ACHA D3 level or higher.  I am open to any opportunities for college hockey.  I am also open to any path to the collegiate level may that be through a junior hockey club.

In addition to varsity hockey, I also play varsity football and varsity baseball.  I have been awarded a varsity letter in all 3 sports.  I also referee hockey and have been doing so over the past 5 years.
