Game film available upon request. My 2019-2020 season is available on HockeyTV (Waywayseecappo Wolverines of the MJHL). I wore #6 and played center all but a couple of games. I played in 59 of the 60 regular season games.
Hello, I'm Matthew Swanson from Princeton / Zimmerman, Minnesota. I'm a Student-Athlete pursuing hockey and my college education. I graduated from Princeton High School in May of 2019 with a GPA of 3.661 and a score of 25 on the ACT. I'm currently undecided on my major, but I'm interested in the engineering field. I'm currently taking classes at Anoka Ramsey Community College. My current team is the Waywayseecappo Wolverines of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) Junior A Tier II.
I'm an excellent skater with speed that sees the ice well, and I have a high hockey IQ. I'm a great passer and playmaker with a quick hard shot. I'm positionally strong and play well with or without the puck. I played defense in my first varsity season, which confirms my versatility. These traits make me a complete 200-foot player. I also take great pride in my penalty killing and my willingness to block shots.
I have a team-first mentality and lead by example on and off the ice, whether I have a letter on my sweater or not. When the situation requires it, I can be a vocal leader too. All this makes me a great teammate and a welcomed addition to any organization.
I grew up living in the country; the closest towns, Princeton and Zimmerman, are about 7 miles away. My home is in Zimmerman (my mailing address), and I attended school and played high school hockey at Princeton, the school district where I live. Outside of hockey, I enjoy golfing, basketball, hunting, fishing, lake time, and spending time with family and friends.
My ultimate goal is to play Division I College Hockey while earning my College Degree. My short-term goals are to improve upon my ACT score to open up additional opportunities and to continue to develop and grow as a hockey player.
I genuinely believe I have the passion, work ethic, motivation, character, and integrity to be a valuable asset to any team, organization, and community. As you conduct your recruiting for the upcoming season, please consider what I have to offer.
Thank you in advance for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.
Respectfully,
Matthew Swanson
