The thought of playing hockey after high school was always a dream of mine.
The start of my Sophomore year, I felt I was having a less than average year. About 6-7 weeks into the season, out of nowhere, my coach looked at me and said, “Hey, after your game, stay dressed you are playing varsity.” I was pumped! During my game, all I could think of was about my chance to finally play varsity. All of a sudden, I get thrown an elbow and my arm breaks. Not only did that hit break my arm, it also broke my heart. My season was over at the snap of my fingers. I was on the bench watching my team and my buddies play for the remainder of the season.
Since that day, many things have changed. I am bigger, faster and stronger than I was; but the one thing that changed the most was my desire to play. Looking back at my Sophomore year, I realize not that to play this game, you don’t need to be the most talented one on the ice, but what you have to be is the one with the heart to play and the desire to win!
I will be graduating in May of 2019. My high school season has wrapped up and I have had the opportunity to play a few games with the Missoula Jr. Bruins. This experience was so beneficial to me and my growth not only has a hockey player, but also as in individual.
I am currently participating in the MAP program at the Schwan's Super Rink in Blaine, MN.
Thank you for your time.
