My name is Matthew Conner Brady. I prefer to go by Conner.
I am 19 yr old, 5’11’’, 195 lb. left defenseman for the For Worth Brahma's JR Hockey Team currently in the NA3HL. I was just named captain for the 2014-2015 season. I pride myself on being very fast and physical defenseman that wont get beat one on one. My physical play is clean and I don’t take stupid penalties.
I recently graduated from high school at Billings Senior High School while playing for the Billings Bulls JR A hockey team. . My first 11 years of education were in the Carroll School district located in Southlake Texas. Southlake Carroll prides itself as one of the top academic and athletic programs in the State. At this time I am working at Office Depot in the mornings and working on my hockey skills in the afternoons.
My hockey career began at age 4 playing in a house league, progressing to travel at age 7 and winning the Silver Sticks North American Title at age 10. At middle school age I added football and soccer to my resume and quit travel hockey.
After 3 years off I yearned for the fast pace and action hockey provides. I plunged back into hockey, making the Varsity Southlake Hockey Team my sophomore year and was voted Captain my JR year. I was named All State and played in the Texas All Star game in the spring of 2013. As the captain I was very dedicated to my team being the first to arrive and last to leave practice. I also made the commitment to attend all of the JV practices and help out with the development of the lower classmen. Going into my senior year I had the opportunity to play JR hockey. This decision was extremely difficult but I based it on the honor of fulfilling my dream of playing college hockey. My family and I feel the Billings team gave me the best opportunity. Being away from home is also better preparing me for college. Yes, I truly miss my family and friends but I do not doubt this was definitely the right decision for me, as new friends and teammates are now a part of my life. After playing one year of Junior hockey, I decided to come closer to home and play for the Brahma's who drafted me this past off season. Being named Captain is a huge honor and I pride myself as being a leader on and off the ice.
My choice of college is anywhere in the US. I love the outdoors, hunting, golfing, fishing, etc., so I have faith anywhere will suffice my luxuries. My dream of college hockey can be anywhere big or small. I have the strength and ability to make new friends anywhere. Being a college student/ athlete has always been my goal and I know I can be an instant contributor to any college hockey team.
