The first time I laced up my skates, I fell in love with hockey. I have such a passion and a drive for the game that has brought me to where I am today. Hockey has taught me dedication, leadership, teamwork, as well as disappointment. A few examples of these traits are: waking up early for travel games, having multiple games in one weekend, pushing my team through tough situations, and losing hard-fought games. While playing hockey, I have a learned a lot about teamwork. My teammates are more like my family, and I care about all my teammates very much. As a student-athlete, I have learned a lot about time management, work-ethic and commitment,. My parents always enforced rules about grades coming first, because the student side of me comes before the athlete side of me. While playing on both my club team and my high school team, I have taken advice from the older guys as well as giving advice to the newer and younger players.
Throughout all my years of playing hockey, I have matured as a student and as an athlete. I know that I can do more with the talents that I have. I am looking for a program that fits my academic needs, but that also corresponds to athletics. I am different than other recruits, because I strive to be the best, I am a leader, I love hockey, and most importantly, I am not only prepared to apply my talents on the ice, but also in the classroom. These traits are what make me a pleasure to work with, and a great asset for your team.
