Hi, I’m Danny Caputo. I am a student athlete at Vermont Academy. I graduate in 2022 and I will be playing varsity ice hockey at Vermont Academy. I have played hockey for 8 years it is very much my passion. I started playing at my local club and played AA hockey up until my 15u year where I started playing for the jersey shore whalers. AAA hockey made me realize that I really had liked the sport and I would have to start committing to it so I had a rough year. My 16u year I played for the Mercer chiefs national team and after an intense offseason and playing the mental game with myself, I was put into a leadership role on this team. I had a great season stat wise but our teams record could have been better we did make playoffs and I learned so much from my head coach Anthony mattarazzo who is now the player development coach for the Dubuque fighting saints. last season was the most beneficial season I ever had. My coach taught me so many valuable lessons and made me grow as a person so much. He taught me all about entitlement which Was a common theme for 16u players, he told me to play as the best player on the ice but always look at yourself as the second best player. I cant wait to start my hockey journey at Vermont Academy these next two years. As for the academic and Arts side of things I Maintain an 90 gpa My last 3 years of high school. I hope to bring that up my next two years of prep school. For my career I would like to be a lawyer or get into business. Also Im considering architecture. I am still unsure. i also play the guitar im pretty good i don’t know how that will relate to college if there’s any opportunity if not it’s fine it’s really just a hobby. I spend my summers working at a jet ski rental 4 days a week, i workout every day weight train 4 days a week cardio twice and a day of calisthenics. i am also a player for Andover Milton hockey academy a summer program. So usually we would have skated 4 times a week this summer but Covid- 19 didn’t allow us too. i also surf and golf in the summer I live right by the beach. My overall goal in being a student athlete is to earn a division 1 scholarship at a school who is interested me and trusts me on the ice as a player.
