My love of hockey goes back as far as I can remember. I started skating at the age of three and have been playing hockey since I was four. On the ice, I am known for my ability to win corner and net battles: and I am also not afraid to get physical and play the body. I feel these traits are what have allowed me to adapt successfully to new situations. As a junior in high school, I started a new school. To many this might have been frightening and intimidating but to me I looked at it as an opportunity to not only meet new people but to also grow my educational experiences. This hard work has paid off. This season I am gaining great success on the ice as I continue to grow stronger as a player. Off the ice I have adapted successfully into a new school setting and am achieving the academic goals I have set for myself.
I feel I have grown the most as a student athlete between my sophomore and junior year of high school. My sophomore year our team battled it out with one other team to win the league but more importantly we needed to beat them in the tournament to advance onto states. The game came down to a shootout and us losing. After that loss; I reflected on my position in that game to determine what I needed to do differently as a player and as a teammate. It forced me to focus on my personal efforts both on and off the ice. My commitment to improvement included training more on my own and increasing my communication with my teammates. I am looking for a program that will fit both my athletic skills and academic skills. As a three sport athlete, I am a well rounded individual who has the desire to be a team player who will give all I have to help take your program to the next level.
