My love of hockey began very early, shortly after learning to skate at two years of age. I knew I was drawn to the sport as I explored different positions with the Fort Henry Flames, I grew more interested in being a goalie. After a few games, I was hooked and have continued to play as a goalie throughout KAHMA. Initially, what I thought would be a hobby for enjoyment has now become career-oriented and I wish to pursue it further as I have an intense passion for the game.
My family and I have a great relationship who have always been supportive and encouraged me to follow what makes me happy. My parents have spent many hours driving to and from the rinks and are fully aware of the discipline and commitment it takes to see me follow through with my dreams. I’ve been taught, the value of hard work, dedication, and determination is required to achieve our goals and strive to give 100% effort. My parents have been my biggest supporters throughout the years, always trying their best to guide and provide me with the necessary tools to achieve success.
I was never the biggest kid growing up and all the other players grew before me. Throughout my younger years, I was faced up against others who were larger in stature, providing them a slight advantage. Two of the goalies I competed and played with throughout various tryouts and teams have now been drafted into the OHL and one is currently ranked in the top ten 2004 goalies in North America.
Growing up in Kingston, Ontario, I was afforded the opportunities to be surrounded by inspiring role models and goalie coaches such as Kory Cooper. He was my previous goalie coach of 5+ years and has now earned the spot as GM of the Kingston Frontenacs. Tyson Techiman is my current goalie coach and former gold medalist at the U18 Hlinka Gretzky Cup in the 2010-2011 season.
I am a very team-oriented player who loves to actively participate in team sports. In my opinion, nothing else compares to team sports, the friendships, lessons, and the memories you make. I believe playing many team sports throughout my life has made me a stronger well-disciplined person, always learning and continuously improving towards a common goal.
Some hobbies of mine are playing volleyball for my high school team and basketball with friends in my spare time. I enjoy hands-on projects and have a keen interest in carpentry. I have helped build multiple sheds, decks, fences and assisted in finishing my basement from start to finish. One of my interests is school academics. I enjoy challenges and learning new subjects.
With consideration of the type of game I like to play, I prefer a competitive game with a strong technique. I am consistently reading the play and assessing my surroundings of players who might be across the play looking for a one-timer or rebound opportunity. I consider myself a very reactive goalie who can face the hardest of shots but also react to the best of passing plays such as 2-0, 2-1, and penalty kills. I don't play an overly aggressive game unless it's a straight-on shot or a guy tries to walk in. I also believe I play a positionally sound game where I don't ever find myself struggling to be square on a shooter.
