Jake Weikel '20 Recruiting Profile

To compete is in my blood!  I come from a family of athletes; my father played football, my mother played field hockey, my sister is a swimmer, and my younger brother is also a hockey player. I’ve been a multi-sport athlete from a young age; having focused on hockey, baseball, and swimming, but can also be found on the basketball court or ski hill. 

A hard work ethic and a positive attitude have been instilled in me from a young age. These attributes continue to build my character to always be the best I can be. I challenge myself whether it is academically or athletically.  I took Honors classes and carried a weighted GPA of over 4.0 throughout high school. I am interested in the health field and plan on becoming a Physical Therapist. 

I am currently playing Juniors and have aspirations to compete at the collegiate level. As a player I am coachable and always look forward to playing in a good team oriented system.  I love to compete and I have good hockey sense.  Just because the puck is not in my vicinity doesn’t mean I’m not competing.  I believe one of the things that separates me is my hard skill.  I thrive on being creative in the small areas on the ice, in traffic to win the battles. I’ve been skating since I was 3 years old and have participated in various clinics and training over the years that have focused on speed and form. I also have a very strong mind set, this allows me to adapt and stay focused for a full 60 minutes of hockey and keeps me sharp to compete at a high level to win!
