My name is Drew Hockley. I am 16 years old and was born on March 3rd, 2005 in Kentville Nova Scotia. I am currently living in Kentville, Nova Scotia although I attend a preparatory school in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island called the Mount Academy. I also lived in Wilcox, Saskatchewan while I attended Athol Murray College of Notre Dame when I was 14 years old. I also attended Kings County Academy in Kentville, Nova Scotia for 9 years. While I was there I took French immersion which has helped me become bilingual in English and French. I take my athletics and academics very seriously because I know I have to do my best on and off of the ice. As I mentioned above I have attended many different schools taking both French and English and have had the opportunity to play hockey at those schools alongside many other great athletes. Because of my unique experiences, I am strong academically and have learned to adapt to change and new situations that I am put into.
Since I take my academics and athletics very seriously one of my long-term goals is to play for an NCAA school that complements my athletic and academic potential. After college one of my goals is to play professional hockey which has always been a dream of mine ever since I was a kid. As a player, I am very coachable who openly accepts constructive criticism and uses it to help improve my game. My strongest asset is my hockey IQ which helps me see the ice well and make a good first pass. I am a hardworking, two-way defenseman who enjoys playing at both ends of the ice. I try to make quick adjustments to my game to be able to adapt to playing in any situation on the ice. I have played in many different leagues such as the CSSHL and NSMBHL and played in many big tournaments around North America such as the Atlantic Challenge Cup with team Nova Scotia, Triple Crown in Chicago, CCM Boston Elite Invite and Montreal Meltdown.
Since I was young I have always dreamed of playing NCAA and then playing professional hockey. To achieve my goals, I want to attend a school that challenges me as a student-athlete in the classroom and on the ice to help me reach my maximum potential.
