I have been playing hockey since pre-Novice level. My love for the game grew through each level of hockey and through every late night skate on the back yard rink. All I want is to keep playing hockey.
I am a team leader as I lead by example and apply the coach’s game plan. I am coachable and hard working. My Conditioning Coach, Ryan Sadoway, described me in this way: “Eastin is your typical hockey player. He wasn’t taken in any drafts. He [isn’t] a big name, he [is] just a kid who works extremely hard and loves hockey… He is always one of the hardest workers”.
In Grades 9 and 10 I was on the Principal’s Honour Roll with Great Distinction (Great Distinction is awarded to students with a 90%+ average). I am currently in my first semester of Grade 11 with an average of 93% and on pace towards remaining on this Honour Roll. I am actively involved in my cultural community and work closely with the youth.
My parents have instilled the importance of developing a career. By attending a college / university in which I can also play competitive hockey, I will be able to work towards my career while also playing a game I love. Playing at a high level will also contribute to my career as I can transfer the hockey/team skills developed to my life outside the hockey rink.
